Forest, Farmland and the Sea : Water Linkage and the Life of People
Message
The foot of Mt. Daisen contains national park and also a wetland on the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. This is a leading area in Japan that is abundant in the natural environment. I cannot imagine how much benefit we receive from nature; the main symbol, Mt. Daisen and the great river, Hino River. When we stop and think, I realize that water plays a big role in people's life. One tiny drop of rain and snow crystals interact with nature, culture, industry, religion and everything else. This interaction created fertile land and the rich ocean, which have been supporting our life on earth. We can trace its history back to Japanese mythological era. We are holding International Ecotourism Conference 2013 in Tottori this autumn. And the theme is "Forest, Farmland and the Sea: Water Linkage and the Life of People". We would like to take this opportunity and establish the Tottori-style Ecotourism, "Travel like a local". Our goal is to create high quality ecotourism programs that only "We" can offer you here in Tottori. We would like you to feel the great mother of nature and also the message that our ancestors left there for us. It will allow us to have a profound discussion about ecotourism and its effects on local economy. If you are working on ecotourism or studying about it, or simply just interested in it, please visit us this autumn. It would be a great pleasure for us to welcome all of you around theh world to the Internatonal Ecotourism Conference 2013 in Tottori.
