One sunny day in May, I decided to climb Mt. Daisen.
First, please don't forget to submit your climbing plan. It'll help everybody in case of emergency. The submitting boxes are located several places in Daisen, like the starting point of climbing path or Information Center.
Also, please remember to report your safe descending at the end.
One more thing before you start your trekking in Mt. Daisen.
Do you know "Bring 1 Rock or 1 Tree To the Summit Campaign"?
Because the increase number of climbers, the destruction of nature had progressed at the summit of Mt. Daisen in the 70's. It lost lots of greenery, therefore it lost the ability of holding moisture and as a result, the side of mountain started to collaspe often.
In the 80's, the local people and the government got together and founded an organization for conservation of nature of Mt. Daisen. And they started "Bring 1 Rock or 1 Tree To the Summit Campaign"
This is an activity that climber voluntarily bring a rock or a young plant to the summit in an effort to rivive greenery and protect beautiful nature of Mt. Daisen.
When you are planning to climb Mt. Daisen, please join in this activity!!
Now, let's go!Just keep going up & up & up....The sign for "Altitude 1100m".
The summit is 1709m. I still have long way to go.
The beautiful greenery and sunlight filtering through trees give me more energy to keep going.
I can see a wonderful scenery between the trees. I can see Japan sea very clearly today.
We pray for safe climbing at the 5th. stage of the mountain.
The little village in the forest is Daisenji area and I started from there.
It is impressive to know that I climbed to this altitude all by myself.
The final destination is almost there. Stick to it!!
I go through Daisen taxus cuspidata and there is a summit hut!
It takes about 3 hours to get to the summit.
Beautiful Mt. Daisen is the highest in the Chgoku Area.
The weather is perfect today. There are lots of climber with us at the summit.
Now, let's go down. Please be careful. Please watch your step.
I take a different path to go down. This path will take me to Ogamiyama Shrine.
I enjoy a different feature of Mt. Daisen with this path.
This is my goal of the day; Ogamiyama Shrine. This is the most delicious spring water ever!
I hope you enjoyed my report!
